FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE July 25, 2007 The Campo Band of Mission Indians (Campo Band), San Diego County, California, hereby provides this Notice of Availability of a Draft Environmental Evaluation (Draft EE) for the proposed expansion of the Golden Acorn Casino and Travel Center. This project site is located at 1800 Golden Acorn Way, Campo, CA 91906, off of Old Highway 80 at the Interstate 8/Crestwood Road exit.SUMMARY: This Notice advises the public that a Draft EE analyzing the potential off-Reservation effects of a proposal by the Campo Band to expand the existing Golden Acorn Casino and Travel Center with 17,800 square feet of additional gamin and non-gaming casino area, construction of a 3-story 150-room hotel, 900-space parking structure, RV Park, up to two wind turbines, and improvements to the water and wastewater systems, is available for public review. Non-gaming areas are to include a trading post, arcade, coffee bar, administrative offices, bowling center, snack bar, entertainment hall, and retail/restaurant uses. The project is to be constructed in three phases over a period of approximately 7 years. The purpose of this Notice is to solicit substantive public comments on the Draft EE that will assist the Campo Band in determining the potential for off-Reservation environmental impacts. Direct off-Reservation traffic impacts will be limited to the Old Highway 80/Crestwood Road intersection, and road improvements are recommended at this location.
